Our Staff
A large supportive team is vital to the smooth running of the practice.  All our staff are highly motivated and love looking after your pets and you.  They are all themselves pet owners.

We would like to welcome student nurses Chris Duke and Amy Starling to our team!

Chris joined the practice September 2009 and is currently studying for a degree in Veterinary Nursing at Plumpton College. We are going to be his training practice over the next three years.  Andrea our vet is a qualified assessor and will be his tutor while he spends time here at Meridian learning the many skills it takes to qualify as a Veterinary Nurse.  He is looking forward to meeting all our owners and their pets!

Fiona Attwater Dip AVN [surg] RVN joined us in July 07 as our Head Nurse.  Fiona passed her VN exam over ten years ago.  She then continued to study for an additional 3 years, whilst working full time, to gain a diploma in surgical nursing.  She is pictured here with her pet  Maia - her dancing dog!  Fiona has a particular interest in how dogs interact with each other and with their owners.  She has just been awarded a Certificate of Distinction for a canine behaviour course she recently completed.

Finding Us

Maggie Clarke is our part-time receptionist.  She has quickly adapted to this demanding role and is an excellent addition to our team.  She has given a loving home to two cats brought in as strays to the practice.

Susan Harper is enjoying a complete change of career with us.  She works part time in reception and is also an essential part of the administrative team.   Recently Susan has developed an interest in martial arts - though fortunately hasn`t had a reason to practice it here at Meridian!
Liz Surridge is our much valued Nursing Assistant.  She is a local lady who provides excellent support to the nursing team.  Her cats Sita and Sandy  were rescued cats - they were found in a bin by a taxi driver and brought to the surgery.

Our Aims
Paula Borthwick is our Practice Manager.  You may  also see her in reception.  The administration involved in running a Veterinary Practice is staggering and Paula's meticulous attention to detail is vital in keeping things running smoothly.  Paula has a dog called Rolf who is an elderly gent now but still young at heart.

Laura Reilly  RVN has been part of our team since January 2007.  In October 2009 she passed her final nursing examinations to become a registered Veterinary Nurse.  Laura is kept very busy in her spare time as she has five rescue dogs at home - Tommy [in the picture]  originally came from the Dogstrust shelter in Shoreham and as a puppy featured on their Christmas 2007 raffle tickets!
Wendy Pegler joined us in January 06.  She works part-time, and is happy to help  in reception and with administration.  You may also hear her friendly voice at the end of the phone.

Amy Garbo RVN joined Meridian in January 05.  She already had a National Diploma of Applied Science in Animal Management, and while working full time here also studied and qualified as a registered Veterinary Nurse.  She has now enrolled in a Cat Behaviour course - which will be very useful as she lives with 2 mischevious cats Blade and Beemer.

Amy Starling has been one of the team since September 2007. She had been our Saturday assistant and was keen to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse. Happily when the opportunity arose in December 2009 we were able to offer her a full time position as a student nurse.   Amy will start her college training in September 2010  and we are confident she will do well! ll
